About the event

About the presentation: Laurel will describe her mentorship with one of the members of the Haapsula Knitting Guild. The presentation will include photos of the museum, the town, and the midsummer festival. Her presentation will cover the history of the guild and the difference between Estonian lace shawls and Shetland shawls. Laurel will bring several pieces of guild work and examples of some of the details in making the shawls and talk about the knupps. She will show the needles they use and share their preferred yarn.

About the speaker:  Laurel Kaufman is a 73-year-old retired high school counselor, a job she worked for 25 years.  She enjoys reading, gardening, playing petanque, kayaking, walking, birdwatching, and studying French.  She spends part of every year in France with her daughter who lives there.
