February 2025 Meeting Recap: Member Tips and Therapeutic Power of Fiber Arts with Hailey Bailey2/13/2025 by Sioux Van Kol Meeting was held virtually only, due to inclement weather conditions. Anna Lorton, president, welcomed all attendees. She presented an acknowledgment of the indigenous stewards of the land on which we meet. Volunteers were requested for Knit for Food and Gathering of the Guilds. Judy Anderson, the service project coordinator, talked up the service project for this year, hats for the North by Northeast Community Health Center. She asked that knitters email [email protected] for drop off location. Anyone who knits hats will be entered into the annual Service Project raffle, the knitter who makes the most hats will be one of the winners. Hats should be made with machine washable yarn, and larger sizes to fix hairstyles like dreadlocks are encouraged. Programs coordinator would like someone to come speak on crochet as an embellishment. Do you know someone? Email [email protected]. Raffle request: Have you made something, or do you have something nice you’d like to donate to the guild for the raffle? Email [email protected] with raffle donations. Anna highlighted some upcoming events: PurlSide Fiber Fest, February 22nd - 23rd, Rose City Yarn Crawl, March 6th-9th, Knit for Food, April 5th, Gathering of the Guilds, April 25-27th RSVP Policy change: There is no longer a need to RSVP for in-person meetings. But if you’re new, please feel free to let us know so that we can keep an eye out for you & say hi! Announcement made that the Communications director position on the Board still needs to be filled. Raffle was held virtually. Next month will be Laurel Kaufman, speaking about The Lace Knitters of Estonia Past and Present.
